A s soon as I found out about cannabis medical benefits, I thought it was a miracle plant. So now, it is easy for me to believe that Jesus could have used it to perform miracles. It certainly is a sensitive subject since it involves religion but there is proof of cannabis healing use thought out human history.

Cannabis has been used by many civilization thousands of years ago. Even ancient Egyptians have a record of using cannabis as one of their healing ingredient. When it is used properly, not for the wrong reasons like an escape to problems or teenagers auto medicating themselves, it could be a powerful tool for spiritual and medical healing.

God directed Moses to make a holy anointing oil composed of pure myrrh, sweet cinnamon, Kaneh-bosm, cassia and olive oil.

Holy anointing oil recipe (as described in Exodus 30:22-25):

  • Pure myrrh – 500 shekels (about 6 kg)
  • Sweet cinnamon – 250 shekels (about 3 kg)
  • Kaneh bosm – 250 shekels (about 3 kg)
  • Cassia – 500 shekels (about 6 kg)
  • Olive oil – one hin (about 5 quarts)

The plant known as kaneh-bosm in Aramaic was translated in the greek Septuagent bible as calamus, an herb with well-known medicinal effects. However, scholars  now agree that kaneh-bosm was actually cannabis, and that it was commonly used during and well before the time of Jesus.

As per a study of scriptural texts published recently, it has been suggested the use of anointing oil by Jesus as cannabis extract in incense for ceremonies and to perform miracles.

Despite various claims by different scholars, we still cannot completely deny or accept the study of spiritual texts. However, the healthful benefits our body can derive from the use of cannabis can certainly not be denied as they have been proven scientifically and medically.
